School Outreach

Since 1997 the School Outreach Program has brought 3,500 to 4,000 children each year from Westchester County schools into our theatre. Children represent a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds from about 40 different schools throughout the County. For many of these children, it is their first experience with live theatre and it can be life changing - the start of a life-long love and appreciation of theatre!

Through the School Outreach Program, which offers free or reduced price tickets, learning extends from the classrooms to the stage. The productions are often based on children's literature and represent a variety of culturally diverse and socially and historically relevant themes. All the Outreach productions are tied to curriculum through study guides, and teachers are encouraged to incorporate the plays' themes into classroom discussions and topics. As budget cutbacks at our schools have limited our arts education programs, the School Outreach Program fills a critical need.

*Admission is subsidized for students from the full rate of $14 and one complimentary ticket for every 15 students is available for a parent/teacher chaperone. Additional seating for non-students is available at the full price rate of $14.

*Seating is determined at the time of arrival and subject to the discretion of the theatre.

*Reservations are required and must be accompanied by a 50% deposit 12 weeks prior to the performance. Deposits are non refundable.

*Tickets must be paid in full four weeks prior to the event with no exceptions.

*All sales are final. No refunds. Please arrive promptly as all shows begin on time. A map and driving directions are available.

*Handicap accessibility is available, but must be requested in advance.

	Doktor Kaboom Feb 2, 2012 @ 9:30 & 11:15 am Creatively blending theatre arts with the wonders of scientific exploration, Doktor Kaboom keeps his audience riveted with interest and rolling with laughter while exploring scientific content. Using masterful improvisational skills, Kaboom takes his audience on a sidesplitting tour of the modern scientific method and demonstrates spectacular applications of the physical sciences. 	Henry & Mudge Feb 28, 2012 @ 9:30 & 11:15 am Sometimes it's tough being a kid, but life is a lot easier, and a lot more fun, when you've got an extremely large, slobbery canine buddy to share your adventures! Follow the exploits of Henry and Mudge throughout the seasons in this musical based on Cynthia Rylant's best-selling books. A Theatreworks USA production. Grades K-4
	Nearly Lear Mar 29, 2012 @ 9:30 am Nearly Lear encapsulates all the grandeur of Shakespeare's tragedy King Lear as seen through the eyes of the King's closest companion - his own fool! As told by Lear's devoted clown, the story is not only poignant and moving, but also mischievous, tender and hysterically funny. Grades 6-12
	Charlotte's Web May 15, 2012 @ 9:30 & 11:15 am E.B. White's classic is brought to life by Theatreworks USA! Charlotte (a spider) and Wilbur (a pig) are unlikely friends, but when Wilbur faces the troubling prospect of becoming pork dinner, it's Charlotte to the rescue. Spinning words into her web, Charlotte makes a miracle of Wilbur and turns him into a sensation too prized to be eaten. Grades K-4
